For ten years, Tracy was a Web Content Editor in the music and DVD departments for this respected e-commerce bookseller.  In this capacity, she edited and managed multiple multimedia content pages and promotional boutiques using a CMS and SEO Best Practices.  Tracy also wrote CD reviews, interviewed established and emerging recording artists and managed freelance writers.

From 2008 to 2010, Tracy wrote and edited Hot Mama Daily, a popular daily beauty and fashion blog for women of color for this Toronto-based media company.  She generated an average of 45 posts per month and updated blog content using WordPress; kept abreast of beauty and style trends; developed relationships with key PR contacts and secured exclusive content and giveaway opportunities; covered Fashion Week, budget fashion, celebrity style and pop culture trends; and increased readership and grew the blog’s social media presence via Twitter, Facebook and other networks.

As a freelance top editor for New York magazine’s website, Tracy top-edited and fact-checked 30 to 40 restaurant and bar listing reviews per week.


Heart & Soul:

Tracy was assistant editor for this monthly health and fitness magazine for African-American women when it was published by Rodale Press.  She wrote and edited the front-of-book section Interactive Sisterhood, wrote health and weight loss features and supervised editorial interns.


Latina Magazine:

Tracy was the fill-in research editor for this bilingual magazine when it was co-owned by Essence Communications.  She was also a guest editor for the 1999 “Latinas of the Year” issue and assigned and edited profiles on prominent Latin women in the fields of entertainment and public service.


Literary Contributions

Tracy was a contributing writer for the Essence Communications book, Wisdom of the Ages: Extraordinary People Ages 19-90, and had two personal essays published in the acclaimed Beacon Press anthology, Testimony: Young African-Americans on Self-Discovery and Black Identity.  She also provided research backup for the self-help books, Daily Cornbread: 365 Ingredients for a Healthy Mind, Body and Soul and Seven Soulful Secrets: For Finding Your Purpose and Minding Your Mission.
